Phillip was born in Oakland City, Indiana to Robert and Emma Richeson. The family moved to Roseburg, Oregon in 1946, where he attended school. While in high school, Phillip met his future wife of 55 years,

Carol Jean Suver. After Graduation, Phillip joined The US Navy and would later marry Carol in September 1961. During his 20 years of service, he became an expert submariner and devoted patriot, being awarded the Bronze Star Navy Expeditionary Medal. After retiring from the US Navy, Phillip devoted the next 20+ years to the Grossmont Union High School District until his second retirement in 2002. He then went on to spend a few more years working for Faith Bible Fellowship.

He was the Base Store Keeper for The United States Submarine Veterans Inc San Diego Chapter, where you could find him devoting his time to parades, fundraising and lots of patriotic events. His love for his country continued to burn brightly well after his enlisted service ended. You would see him out and about town in his truck, and he usually had some sort of patriotic shirt on. He truly loved his country.

Phillip was a Member of Faith Bible Fellowship Santee, CA from the very beginning approximately 20yrs.

Phillip leaves behind his wife Carol of 55 years, 2 children: Meredith G. Hillenbrand & Brian K Richeson.

4 grandchildren Seth J Hillenbrand, Heather N Ward, Derek Gorton and Phillip JL Richeson. As well as his Sister Bernice Reuter of Florida.
